Holidays in Torbole at Lake Garda, Italy
Torbole is the youngest township on Lake Garda – if you take the average age of its visitors. Torbole is the place of the young and sporty and, of course, most of them are surfers. The main reasons for this are the excellent wind conditions in this area: the wind pattern is so regular that you can almost set your watch by. Much to the delight of sports buffs who head straight down to the beach and onto their boards.
Do you expect that at least the evenings in Torbole are quiet and tranquil, with all the surfers exhausted from a long day in the wind? No way! The pubs of the small village are bustling with life all night long, and on the weekends even until dawn. If your heart does not beat for surfing, you might well feel a little lost sometimes because in the pub and on the beach all you hear is surfing talk.
The township of Torbole is actually made up of two villages, Nago and Torbole (population 2300), and belongs to the province of Trentino. Catch the most attractive sight of the lake by taking the provincial road from Nago to Torbole and stopping at the car park in the hairpin bend, next to the glacial caves called “Marmitte dei Giganti” (Giants’ Potholes). From here you can marvel at the beautiful lake in its full length, embedded among the towering peaks of the northern shore.
