Sommacampagna is situated to the east of Lake Garda near Peschiera. The village was already known in the Roman times, the ancient Romans gave the name to the village. Sommacampangna means "highest land".

And the name is denotative: Sommacampagnia lies near the famous moraine hills which surround Lake Garda. Who spends his holidays here is not much interested in beach and lake but more in regional singularity, which are untroubled by mass tourism.
