Holidays in Lazise at Lake Garda, Italy
The small village only has 1000 residents and seems to defend itself vigorously against the waves of visitors. The historic centre is still surrounded by the ancient fortification walls dating from 1370 and can only be accessed through three town gates. Once you have entered the walls, you will notice that Lazise is much more laid-back than any other township on the eastern lake shore. Stroll through the charming little streets of the historic centre with its exceptionally spacious piazza. Under Venetian rule, Lazise was an important trading town, evidence of which can be seen in the old customs house in the harbour. From here, the Venetians controlled the goods traffic on the lake.
