Sights in Castelnuovo at Lake Garda, Italy
Castle
The castle was built by the Visconti family in the 14th century and towers over Castelnuovo’s historical centre. Particularly worth visiting is the well preserved Visconti tower in the second fortification wall.
Church of Santa Maria
The Church of Santa Maria is located close to the ‘Visconti tower’. Though the church was built in the 18th century, the bell tower dates back to the 15th century.
Chapel of Madonna degli Angeli
The chapel of Madonna degli Angeli stands on the top of San Lorenzo hill. Inside, there is a rather unusual 15th century painting depicting the Virgin Mary breast-feeding the Christ child.
