Sights in Bardolino at Lake Garda, Italy

San Severo
The little romantic church is located by the side of the through road. This harmonious structure was built over the older 8th century crypts, and you can also see frescos depicting scenes from the Apocalypse which date back to the first half of the 12th century.

San Zeno
The church lies somewhat hidden beyond the Gardesana Orientale in a farmstead on the Via San Zeno. The walls you can still see are from the 9th century, making this place of worship one of the oldest in the whole of northern Italy.

Museo dell’ Olio
2 km to the south in Cisano (a part of Bardolino), you can buy excellent olive oil at this olive oil museum and discover how it has been made through the ages right up to the present day.

Museo del Vino
This is actually a bit of a con: a winery collects old wine presses and filling equipment, uses them to show how wine is made and calls the whole thing a wine museum. What you really have here is simply a winery with wine tasting – but it’s interesting, nonetheless.

Strada del Vino
A route which car drivers, unfortunately, are not allowed to enjoy as much as others… The Wine Route begins a little to the north of Bardolino and leads through Affi, Pastrengo and Castelnuovo towards Peschiera. You can not only buy but also taste wine from over 40 growers and producers on the way.

Shore Promenade
A one-hour walk takes you along the lake to Garda. There are a lot of beaches on the way, so don’t forget to pack your swimming costume! At the outskirts of Garda the promenade briefly leads away from the shore to continue inland. Here you’ll pass a detached red house, the meeting point for Garda’s senior citizens. Apart from the fact that people here always seem to be extremely cheerful – as you’ll notice even as a simple onlooker peeking through the fence – the house itself has an interesting past. It used to be the Bardolino railway station in the days when there was a train service from Verona to Garda.
